What is the office you are running for?

Tomball ISD School Board

What are three reasons why you think you are the best candidate running for this Board position?

Previous service on boards gives me a strong understanding of governance and how to work effectively with others around common goals. I have supported teaching sound economic principles as a Junior Achievement volunteer in my daugthers’ schools. As a parent, I was actively involved in my daughters’ education through volunteer service and believe in respecting, supporting, and exercising the rights of the parents to decide what is best for their child.

What are the three biggest challenges facing the board and how would you address these challenges if you are elected to the Board?

Maintaining an excellent school system in the face of a challenging funding environment. I believe in utilizing a priority approach to budgeting that focuses on students and teachers. If there isn’t a source of funding for a program, then it shouldn’t be funded. Complacency with past success. I will continue to push for more rigorous curriculum that challenges, not coddles, our students. Keeping parental rights at the heart of the decisions we make. I will strive to make sure that parents have the knowledge and awareness of where parents should go within the district to exercise their God-given rights to lead and direct their child’s education.

Would you actively pursue an annual third party financial audit of your ISD?

I would support a third party financial audit if there was concern with discrepancies in use of financial resources.

What do you believe is a parents’ role in their children’s education?

Parents lead their child's educational efforts.

What's your opinion of programs such as Common Core curriculum? Critical Race Theory? Social Emotional Learning? International Bacculaureate?

I believe in a rigorous curriculum focused on fundamentals that challenges a child and helps them grow in their capabilities.

Do you believe the school board should be able to remove sexually explicit material from libraries and classrooms?

Yes. We are charged to do so under the laws of the State of Texas.

Will you work to remove harmful materials as defined in Texas penal code 43.24 from all school property? Additionally, do you support removing the “educational exemption” from this law?

Yes and yes.

The State of Texas has passed laws banning the social transitioning of children in schools. Will you enforce this law as a member of the board and protect students from woke gender ideology?

Yes.

Do you support allowing all students to use bathrooms, showers and locker rooms, as well as participate in sports, based on the gender with which they identify, not the sex they are assigned to at birth? Please explain.

No. Boys should use facilities for boys and girls should use facilities for girls. The same goes for sports. Not doing so would put girls at risk and destroy girls sports.

Do you believe there are two genders? If not, how many are there?

God made man and woman..

What is your position on implementing a gender fluidity policy to remove all gender subject matter books & materials from your ISD?

The sex of a person is defined at birth and cannot be changed.

Do you believe a teacher should be required to use a student’s preferred pronoun?

No.

Should the SBOE have total & final authority on what teaching materials are used in the classroom? Please explain fully.

The SBOE has this authority under the laws of the State of Texas to determine what teaching materials are used in the classroom. So my answer is yes.

How much access do you believe parents should have to their children's curriculum? classroom? teacher? online?

Parents should be allowed at any time to review, audit, and request modifications to their child's curriculum.

The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled that states may ban boys from participating in girls’ sports. How will you protect female students as a member of the school board?

I will vote to keep boys out of girl's-only spaces and vote to keep boys from participating in girls sports.

Would you, individually, take public, overt steps to have pornography removed from your ISD's classrooms. libraries and campuses?

Yes. According to the laws of the State of Texas, we are required to do so.

Are you now or have you ever done business with Tomball ISD or a TISD official?

The company for which I am employed has a history of performing professional services for Tomball ISD>

What curricula and/or subjects do you think should be prioritized in setting up every Tomball ISD student for future success?

Reading, writing, and math.

Would you be in favor of returning the pledge of allegiance to the American flag each morning in the public schools?

We already do so in our schools.

Do you believe the Bible should be returned to the public school library? How would you implement that?

Bible stories have a place in curricula to help provide context and understanding to historical events.

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcies?

No.
