About the Candidate

I am Kevin D. Jensen II—a dedicated parent, operations leader, and community advocate running for New Caney ISD School Board Trustee, Position 2. As a resident of Porter, Texas, where my family and I are raising our six-month-old son, I am deeply invested in the future of our local schools and community. My values were shaped early while growing up in Millington, Illinois (Pop. 500), where I started working as a farm hand at age twelve and eventually managed supply logistics for local agricultural operations. I earned my Bachelor of Science from Truman State University, balancing academics as a Division II football player while running a small business. Professionally, I recently served as a Senior Vessel Operator managing complex maritime logistics across Gulf Coast ports through late July 2026, and I have since transitioned into serving families directly as a licensed Life and Health Insurance agent. Running on a commitment to manage our district’s rapid growth with a strict "quality over quantity" mindset, my platform focuses on four key priorities: Parent Voice & Community Trust: Ensuring parents' perspectives directly guide district decisions so local families feel heard and confidently choose public schools. Fiscal Stewardship: Conducting strict audits on capital construction projects to protect taxpayer dollars and keep resources focused where they belong—inside the classroom. Academic Excellence: Prioritizing core literacy, mathematics, critical thinking, and civic literacy centered on our nation's founding principles. Teacher Support: Backing our educators with the resources and leadership necessary to maintain structured, civil classrooms free from political bias. Students are individuals, not just numbers in an expanding system. By auditing our spending, respecting taxpayers, listening to parents, and focusing on foundational academics, we can build a district that every family in New Caney ISD can be proud of.

What is the office you are running for?

New Caney ISD School Board

What are three reasons why you think you are the best candidate running for this Board position?

First, I bring real-world operational and financial leadership experience. Having managed complex supply-chain logistics and high-stakes budgets, I know how to scrutinize operations, eliminate waste, and conduct strict audits on ongoing construction projects to ensure taxpayer dollars directly benefit students in the classroom. Second, I am driven by a personal, long-term investment in our community's future. As a resident of Porter and father to a young son, I am not interested in political stepping stones; my priority is ensuring New Caney ISD delivers top-tier academic standards, parental empowerment, and safe, well-equipped classrooms for the next generation....

What are the three biggest challenges facing the board and how would you address these challenges if you are elected to the Board??

1. Managing Rapid Growth & Construction Spending The Challenge: Surging enrollment forces ongoing construction and rezoning, which risks overspending and losing individual student focus. My Address: Apply a strict "quality over quantity" mindset. Require independent audits on capital construction and bond projects to keep development on schedule and within budget, ensuring facility expansion serves students without overburdening taxpayers....

Would you actively pursue an annual third party financial audit of the NCISD?

Yes, beyond standard statutory compliance, my focus is ensuring these audits provide genuine oversight—specifically scrutinizing capital construction expenditures, bond implementations, and administrative costs. By maintaining strict third-party financial oversight, we can eliminate waste, protect taxpayer dollars, and guarantee that district funds are prioritized directly where they belong: inside the classroom to support our students and teachers.

What do you believe is parents’ roles in their children’s education?

Parents are the primary authority in a child’s life; schools exist to partner with families, not replace them. A parent’s role is to guide learning, review curriculum, and hold the district accountable. Unfortunately, many parents today feel disconnected or unaware of their power to shape our schools. My goal is to re-engage families, ensuring they are informed, respected, and empowered as active partners in our community and educational system.

What's your opinion of programs such as Common Core curriculum? Critical Race Theory? Social Emotional Learning? International Bacculaureate?

Public education must remain grounded in objective academic achievement, transparent standards, and local community values: Common Core: Texas public schools operate under the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards rather than national Common Core frameworks. I believe local and state leaders know best how to educate Texas students, and I favor locally controlled, high-rigor standards that focus on foundational literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking not Common Core....

Do you believe the school board should be able to remove sexually explicit material from libraries and classrooms?

Yes. School boards have a responsibility to keep classrooms and libraries focused on education by removing sexually explicit materials. This isn't about restricting ideas; it is about protecting children, respecting age-appropriateness, enforcing Texas standards, and restoring parental trust in our public schools.

Will you work to remove harmful materials as defined in Texas penal code 43.24 from all school property? Additionally, do you support removing the “educational exemption” from this law?

Yes. I will actively work to remove material defined as harmful under Texas law from all district property, I do Support educational exemptions that permit explicit content in schools with approval from parents directly. Our libraries must uphold high, age-appropriate standards. Schools should focus on core academics, leaving sensitive personal topics to parents, who hold the primary responsibility for guiding and teaching their children.

The State of Texas has passed laws banning the social transitioning of children in schools. Will you enforce this law as a member of the board and protect students from woke gender ideology?

Yes. As a board trustee, I will uphold Texas law. Public schools must stay focused on core academics, not social ideologies. School staff should NEVER facilitate social transitioning behind a parent's back. I will enforce state guidelines, respect parental authority, and keep activist agendas out of our classrooms.

Do you support allowing all students to use bathrooms, showers and locker rooms, as well as participate in sports, based on the gender with which they identify, not the sex they are assigned to at birth? Please explain.

No. I support Texas law (HB 25/SB 15) requiring sports participation and multi-occupancy privacy facilities to be based on biological sex. Protecting safety, fairness, and privacy for all students—especially in female athletics—is essential. Protected spaces must remain based on biological sex and not based on how someone feels.

Do you believe there are two genders? If not, how many are there?

There are Two Genders always has been always will. If you think there are more, you have a Mental illness.

What is your position on implementing a gender fluidity policy to remove all gender subject matter books & materials from New Caney ISD?

I support implementing clear policies to remove gender fluidity and ideologically driven materials from New Caney ISD libraries and classrooms. Public schools must focus on core academic fundamentals like reading, math, and science. Concepts surrounding gender fluidity belong in the home under the primary authority of parents, not in public school collections. I will ensure district resources align with age-appropriate standards, Texas law, and the values of our community.

Do you believe a teacher should be required to use a student’s preferred pronoun?

No. Teachers should not be required to use preferred pronouns that contradict biological sex. Texas law prohibits school staff from facilitating social transitioning. Compelling pronoun usage violates state law, infringes on teacher conscience, and bypasses parental authority. Classrooms must stay focused on core academics and objective standards.

Should the SBOE have total & final authority on what teaching materials are used in the classroom? Please explain fully.

No. While the SBOE plays a critical role in setting academic standards (TEKS) and vetting materials for factual accuracy, it should not hold unilateral control. Elected local school boards know their communities best and must retain the authority to select materials that align with local priorities. Ultimate accountability belongs with parents, who must have full transparency and oversight to ensure classroom content reflects local values and focuses on foundational academics.

How much access do you believe parents should have to their children's curriculum? classroom? teacher? online?

Parents are a child’s primary authority and deserve total educational transparency. I support complete parent access to review curricula online or in print, open lines of communication with teachers, transparent classroom visitation policies, and full parent login access to all digital learning management portals and library systems.

The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled that states may ban boys from participating in girls’ sports. How will you protect female students as a member of the school board?

I fully support upholding the Supreme Court's decision and Texas law (HB 25/SB 15) to protect female students. As a school board trustee, I will strictly enforce state statutes requiring middle and high school athletics, locker rooms, and restrooms to be separated by biological sex. This protects athletic fairness, safety, and scholarship opportunities for young women, while keeping our district focused on core academic mission, objective standards, and compliance with state law.

Would you, individually, take public, overt steps to have pornography removed from NCISD classrooms. libraries and campuses?

I do not believe in wasting district resources or focus on non-existent problems when our primary mission must remain core academic achievement. However, as a trustee, I will always uphold Texas law and respect parental oversight. If parents bring specific concerns regarding sexually explicit material to the board, I will ensure proper review procedures are followed. Our focus stays on education, but our commitment to legal compliance and parent trust remains firm.

Are you now or have you ever done business with New Caney ISD or a NCISD official?

NO Never

What curricula and/or subjects do you think should be prioritized in setting up every student for future success?

To prepare students for future success, we must prioritize: Core Academics: Mastery of phonics-based reading, written communication, and mathematics under Texas TEKS standards....

Would you be in favor of returning the pledge of allegiance to the American flag each morning in the public schools?

Absolutely, it's absurd that they stopped.

Do you believe the Bible should be returned to the public school library? How would you implement that?

Yes, the Bible belongs in public school libraries as a foundational historical and literary document. It is a cornerstone text of Western civilization, American history, and world literature. Including the Bible in library collections supports student access to classic literature, historical research, and cultural literacy without violating constitutional principles regarding religious instruction in public schools.
