I am a wife, mother of four, NCISD graduate, and longtime member of the New Caney community. For more than 14 years, my career has involved budgeting, assessing needs, balancing priorities, solving problems, and working with people from diverse backgrounds. I care deeply about our community and believe strong leadership starts with listening, working together, and keeping students, staff, families, and our community at the center of decisions.

What is the office you are running for?

New Caney ISD School Board

What are three reasons why you think you are the best candidate running for this Board position?

First, I bring over 14 years of real-world experience evaluating needs, managing budgets, balancing priorities, and finding solutions. Second, I am willing to ask questions and stand by my convictions while still working well with others. Third, I consider decisions from multiple perspectives and how they affect our students, staff, families, and community as a whole.

What are the three biggest challenges facing the board and how would you address these challenges if you are elected to the Board??

I believe our biggest challenges are continued academic growth, supporting and retaining quality teachers and staff, and responsibly managing the needs that come with growth. I would work alongside the Board to monitor progress, evaluate priorities and resources, listen to our staff and community, and support solutions that strengthen our district for the future.

Would you actively pursue an annual third party financial audit of the NCISD?

NCISD already undergoes an independent annual financial audit and has earned an A/Superior financial accountability rating. I support continuing that process and maintaining transparency with our community. As a trustee, I would review the findings, ask questions when needed, and support responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

What do you believe is parents’ roles in their children’s education?

Parents and guardians should be active partners in their children's education and their strongest advocates. They should know what their children are learning, have access to information, communicate with teachers and administrators, ask questions, and be involved in decisions that affect their child. Strong schools require strong relationships between families and educators.

What's your opinion of programs such as Common Core curriculum? Critical Race Theory? Social Emotional Learning? International Bacculaureate?

Curriculum should align with Texas standards, be academically sound, age-appropriate, transparent to parents, and produce measurable results. I would evaluate programs individually and ensure they comply with Texas law and reflect our district's educational goals.

Do you believe the school board should be able to remove sexually explicit material from libraries and classrooms?

Yes. Materials available to students should be age-appropriate and comply with Texas law. NCISD already provides parents access to campus library catalogs and has a process for reviewing and challenging materials. I support continuing that transparency and established review process, while removing materials determined to violate applicable standards.

Will you work to remove harmful materials as defined in Texas penal code 43.24 from all school property? Additionally, do you support removing the “educational exemption” from this law?

I support keeping material that meets Texas's legal definition of harmful to minors out of our schools and following the law and established review procedures when concerns are raised. Section 43.24 defines "harmful material" using specific legal criteria, so I believe decisions should be based on the actual content and law rather than labels alone.

The State of Texas has passed laws banning the social transitioning of children in schools. Will you enforce this law as a member of the board and protect students from woke gender ideology?

Yes. As a trustee, I would expect our district to follow Texas law. My responsibility would be to ensure district policy complies with the law and maintains a safe learning environment.

Do you support allowing all students to use bathrooms, showers and locker rooms, as well as participate in sports, based on the gender with which they identify, not the sex they are assigned to at birth? Please explain.

No. I believe bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and athletics should be separated based on biological sex, not gender identity. As a Board member, I would support policies that protect those distinctions and comply with Texas law.

Do you believe there are two genders? If not, how many are there?

Yes

What is your position on implementing a gender fluidity policy to remove all gender subject matter books & materials from New Caney ISD?

I do not believe books or materials should be removed simply because they fall under a broad category. They should be evaluated based on their actual content, age appropriateness, educational value, Texas law, and district policy. NCISD already provides parents access to library materials and a process for raising concerns, and I support continuing that process.

Do you believe a teacher should be required to use a student’s preferred pronoun?

No

Should the SBOE have total & final authority on what teaching materials are used in the classroom? Please explain fully.

I believe the SBOE plays an important role in setting standards and reviewing instructional materials, but local districts should also retain an appropriate role in selecting materials that meet state standards and their students' needs. Parents should have transparency and access throughout that process.

How much access do you believe parents should have to their children's curriculum? classroom? teacher? online?

Parents should have full access to what is happening with their children at school. They should be able to review curriculum and instructional materials, know what is being taught in the classroom, access online resources, and communicate openly with their child's teachers. Parents should never be left in the dark when it comes to their child's education.

The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled that states may ban boys from participating in girls’ sports. How will you protect female students as a member of the school board?

I believe school athletics should remain based on biological sex. Girls should compete in girls' sports, and boys should compete in boys' sports. As a Board member, I will support our district in complying with Texas law and UIL requirements for athletic participation.

Would you, individually, take public, overt steps to have pornography removed from NCISD classrooms. libraries and campuses?

Yes. I do not support pornography being available to students in our schools. If pornographic, legally obscene, or harmful material is identified in an NCISD classroom, library, or campus, I would take the appropriate steps as a trustee to address it and have it removed.

Are you now or have you ever done business with New Caney ISD or a NCISD official?

No

What curricula and/or subjects do you think should be prioritized in setting up every student for future success?

Students need a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, science, and history, but preparation should not stop there. I also support strong CTE, college and career readiness, financial literacy, technology, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Every student's path after graduation may look different, and our schools should prepare them to succeed.

Would you be in favor of returning the pledge of allegiance to the American flag each morning in the public schools?

Yes

Do you believe the Bible should be returned to the public school library? How would you implement that?

I believe the Bible can appropriately be available in a public school library as a religious, historical and literary resource, just as other appropriate religious texts may be available. Any decision should follow the same lawful, age-appropriate library selection policies used for other materials rather than promoting or discouraging a particular religious belief.

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcies?

No
